Exactly like at Nonna’s, at Pellegrini’s you get what your are given with the honest love and additional parmesan cheese that you can stomach from a traditional Italian meal.
While always somewhat chaotic this charming venue is a pleasant time warp back into the 1950s, fixed red leather bar stools, vinyl checkerboard flooring, it oozes charisma that is enhanced by the tailored staff that work there.
Largely responsible for Melbourne’s coffee culture, Pellegrini’s sits on Bourke street as an iconic piece of architecture. The worn salmon rendered exterior is prominent due to the adjacent laneway. A hint of vibrancy by day is found within the batik blue tile that is nestled within the interior, while at night — the building is illuminated by the now heritage listed neon sign that lines the façade.
When we say we are all about the warm and fuzzies, we really mean it, and if those feelings are encouraged by food - my goodness, even better! We could not not have Pellegrini’s as part of our print family, as it’s simple and warm personality is a prime example of how “home” can be translated beyond the walls that you live in.
